Nostalgia hungry generation Y always seems to be trying, in some way, trying to reconnect with their not long passed childhood obsessions. Adult Swim on Cartoon Network cashed-in on this phenomenon in April of 2006 when they aired episodes of Saved By the Bell every night at midnight as a two week special. Fans gushed to each other on the network’s website fondly remembering idlaly wasting afternoons watching the show. A week into the 2 week Saved by the Bell marathon Adult Swim announced that it would be reviving the show, and ordering 30 new episodes. Fans were up in arms, claiming the network was trying to destroy their childhoods. The whole thing turned out to be a joke. Though the new episodes of Saved by the Bell never materialized, it hasn’t stopped people from trying to get the original cast back together for a reunion or speculating what the charters may have been up to since the show went off the air.
